Target Information
Mouse cluster of differentiation 97 (CD97) is a seven-transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the EGF-TM7 family. It targets complement regulatory protein CD55 and extracellular matrix components, mediating cell adhesion and migration. CD97 is highly expressed on activated leukocytes, smooth muscle and epithelial cells, where it couples to G-proteins to modulate calcium flux and cytoskeletal rearrangement. Its large extracellular region contains multiple EGF-like domains that confer ligand specificity, while the cytoplasmic tail links receptor engagement to downstream signaling pathways. This restricted tissue distribution and defined ligand profile make CD97 an ideal antigen for antibody generation, enabling precise detection of inflammatory and neoplastic lesions without cross-reactivity to other TM7 receptors.
