Target Information

Mouse cluster of differentiation 8b (CD8b) is the beta chain of the CD8 co-receptor. It targets binding to the MHC class I α3 domain, stabilizing the T-cell receptor-peptide-MHC complex and initiating Src-family kinase signaling. CD8b is expressed exclusively on cytotoxic T lymphocytes and thymocytes, where its immunoglobulin-like ectodomain provides a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation. Anti-CD8b immunoreagents therefore deliver precise detection of cytolytic T-cell subsets in tissue sections and flow cytometry without cross-reacting with CD8-independent T cells or other immunoglobulin superfamily members.
