Target Information

Mouse CD8a is a 24 kDa type-I transmembrane glycoprotein whose Ig-like V-set domain locks onto MHC-I, while a short cytoplasmic tail couples to Lck for T-cell activation. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 95-108) between β-strands C and C' folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse CD8 alleles, presenting a fixation-stable epitope absent from CD8b. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native CD8a in thymic cortex, splenic cytotoxic T cells, and intraepithelial lymphocytes, delivering crisp surface rings and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to CD4 or CD8b.
