Mouse CENPJ is a centrosome and centromere-localized scaffold protein with conserved protein-binding domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It enriches in dividing cell populations and organizes multiprotein complexes to support centromeric structural assemblies. Its multi-domain mitotic regulatory architecture and cell cycle-dependent distribution differentiate it from secreted signaling cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and nuclear transcription factors with simplified single-domain assemblies evenly expressed in non-proliferating somatic cell subgroups.
