Mouse calnexin is an integral endoplasmic-reticulum membrane chaperone that transiently binds nascent glycoproteins, ensuring proper folding and quality control before ER exit. Its cytosolic tail anchors the protein to the ER membrane, while the luminal domain recognizes monoglucosylated N-glycans. Widely expressed in all tissues, calnexin serves as a robust loading control and ER stress indicator. Highly specific antibodies detect the ~90 kDa protein without cross-reactivity to calreticulin, enabling clear western blot and immunofluorescence read-outs in protein trafficking, folding stress and metabolic research.
