Specifications
Target Information
Mouse brevican is a secreted chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan belonging to the lectican family. It features a conserved N-terminal immunoglobulin-like domain, a central hyaluronan-binding region, a glycosaminoglycan attachment site and a C-terminal lectin domain critical for structural integrity. It localizes to the extracellular matrix of the central nervous system, with tissue-specific expression in mouse brain and spinal cord, with negligible levels in peripheral tissues. The protein mediates extracellular matrix assembly and neural tissue organization, with conserved motifs for intermolecular interaction. Mouse brevican shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from aggrecan and other lecticans.
