Mouse MFNG is an intracellular glycosyltransferase enzyme with conserved catalytic glycosyltransferase domains that retain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It distributes in embryonic and epithelial cell populations and mediates glycan modification on cell surface proteins. Its cytoplasmic multi-domain catalytic structure and developmental tissue-biased expression differentiate it from transmembrane receptors, secreted signaling ligands and chromatin-binding nuclear transcriptional regulators with simplified single-domain assemblies and widespread expression in mature somatic tissues.
