Target Information
Mouse asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1) is a 284-residue type II transmembrane glycoprotein that assembles with ASGR2 into a hetero-oligomeric lectin complex. Its extracellular carbohydrate-recognition domain binds terminal galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine residues via a conserved Ca²⁺-coordinating site, while a short N-terminal cytoplasmic tail contains a tyrosine-based internalization motif. Expressed almost exclusively on hepatocyte sinusoidal membranes, ASGR1 localizes to clathrin-coated pits and recycling endosomes. Antibodies raised against the ectodomain or cytoplasmic peptide detect native, glycosylated and truncated forms with negligible cross-reactivity to ASGR2 or other C-type lectins, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in mouse liver homogenates and sections.
