Target Information

Mouse Apolipoprotein A1 (APOA1) is a key component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles, playing a crucial role in reverse cholesterol transport. It promotes cholesterol efflux from tissues and acts as a cofactor for lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), facilitating the conversion of cholesterol into cholesteryl esters. APOA1 is synthesized in the liver and small intestine and is essential for HDL assembly and function. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-thrombotic properties, contributing to cardiovascular health. Defects in APOA1 are associated with conditions such as Tangier disease and familial hypoalphalipoproteinemia.
