It is highly enriched on neuronal plasma membranes within central nervous system cell populations. Its membrane-anchored signaling structure and brain-preferred expression differentiate it from soluble secreted mediators, cytoplasmic scaffolding adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
