Product Overview
BioVenic rabbit polyclonal antibody is specific for guinea pig insulin. It is purified by protein A. It can be applied to WB, IHC, ICC and IP assays of guinea pig insulin.
Specifications
Target Information
Guinea-pig insulin is a 5.8 kDa two-chain peptide hormone processed from pro-insulin in pancreatic β-cells. It targets the insulin receptor tyrosine-kinase on adipose, muscle and liver membranes, initiating PI3K/MAPK cascades that drive glucose uptake, glycogen synthesis and lipogenesis. Its A- and B-chain disulfide-linked structure presents a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation; anti-insulin immunoreagents detect circulating and stored hormone in plasma, islet homogenates and fixed pancreatic sections without cross-reacting with guinea-pig IGF-1 or pro-insulin, providing a precise read-out of β-cell function and metabolic control.
Shipping and Storage
This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
