Target Information

Canine Uromodulin is a glycoprotein predominantly expressed in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidneys. It is secreted into the urine and plays a crucial role in maintaining urinary tract homeostasis. Uromodulin helps prevent urinary tract infections by inhibiting bacterial adhesion and promoting mucus production. It also contributes to the regulation of salt and water reabsorption in the kidneys. Uromodulin is an important target for studying kidney function and related diseases in canine models.
