Target Information

Canine Interleukin17 (IL17) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily produced by activated T cells. It plays a critical role in recruiting and activating neutrophils, monocytes, and endothelial cells. IL-17 stimulates the production of IL-6, prostaglandin E, and nitric oxide, and synergizes with other inflammatory cytokines to amplify local inflammation. It also mediates chemotaxis of neutrophils and monocytes to sites of inflammation. In dogs, IL-17 is associated with various inflammatory diseases and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune conditions such as immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). The IL-17 receptor complex, formed by IL-17RA and IL-17RC, is widely expressed and mediates the pro-inflammatory effects of IL-17.
