Target Information

Bovine liver X receptor alpha (LXRα) is a nuclear ligand-activated transcription factor of the nuclear receptor superfamily. It features a conserved N-terminal DNA-binding domain with zinc-finger motifs, a C-terminal ligand-binding domain and coactivator interaction sites critical for structural integrity. It localizes to cell nuclei, with tissue-specific expression in bovine liver, intestine and macrophages, with minimal levels in skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. The protein mediates target gene transcription and ligand-dependent signaling, with conserved motifs for DNA binding and dimerization. Bovine LXRα shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct ligand specificity differentiating it from LXRβ.
