Target Information
Bovine fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA) is a soluble plasma glycoprotein subunit of the fibrinogen family. It features a conserved N-terminal fibrinopeptide A domain, central coiled-coil motifs and C-terminal polymerization sites critical for structural stability. It localizes to blood plasma and platelet α-granules, with tissue-specific expression restricted to bovine liver hepatocytes, with negligible levels in extrahepatic tissues. The protein mediates fibrin network assembly and intermolecular crosslinking, with conserved binding motifs for thrombin cleavage. Bovine FGA shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct polymerization specificity differentiating it from FGB and FGG subunits.
