Target Information
Bovine D-Aspartate Oxidase (DASOX) is a flavoenzyme that selectively oxidizes D-aspartate to α-keto acids and ammonia, regulating the pool of free D-amino acids in tissues. It is highly expressed in kidney, liver, and brain mitochondria, where it contributes to nitrogen balance and modulates neurotransmission. DASOX activity influences steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis by controlling local D-aspartate levels. As a key modulator of D-amino acid metabolism, it is an important target for studies of endocrine function and neuro-metabolic pathways.
