Target Information

Bovine complement factor H (CFH) is a soluble plasma glycoprotein of the complement regulatory family. It features conserved N-terminal complement control protein modules, a central heparin-binding domain and C-terminal ligand-recognition motifs critical for structural stability. It localizes to blood plasma and cell surfaces, with tissue-specific expression in bovine liver and macrophages, with minimal levels in non-immune tissues. The protein mediates complement pathway regulation and host cell protection, with conserved motifs for intermolecular interaction. Bovine CFH shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct binding specificity differentiating it from CFHR1 and CFHR2.
