Bovine complement component 1 Q subcomponent-binding protein, mitochondrial (C1QBP) is a mitochondrial matrix and cell surface protein of the C1QBP family. It features a conserved central globular domain, multiple ligand-binding sites and a mitochondrial targeting sequence critical for structural integrity. It localizes primarily to mitochondrial inner membranes and cell surfaces, with tissue-specific expression in bovine heart, liver and macrophages, with minimal levels in skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. The protein mediates ligand interaction and protein complex assembly, with conserved motifs for intermolecular association. Bovine C1QBP shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct subcellular localization differentiating it from related binding proteins.
