Target Information
Bovine cluster of differentiation 73 (CD73) is a 547-residue type II transmembrane glycoprotein whose extracellular C-terminal domain converts AMP to adenosine via a zinc-binding motif (HDxxH) coordinated within a single α/β dinucleotide fold. A short N-terminal cytoplasmic tail lacks signalling motifs, while a single transmembrane helix anchors the protein to the plasma membrane of endothelial cells, lymphocytes and adipocytes. Constitutively expressed in lung, spleen and mammary gland, CD73 localizes to lipid rafts and microvilli. Antibodies raised against the catalytic or membrane-proximal peptide detect native, glycosylated and soluble forms with negligible cross-reactivity to other ecto-enzymes, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in bovine tissue homogenates and serum.
