Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a frequently encountered, encapsulated, rod-shaped bacterium that belongs to the Gram-negative group. It is capable of both aerobic and facultative anaerobic respiration. This bacterium can cause diseases in both plants and animals, including humans. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative, non-motile, encapsulated, lactose-fermenting bacterium with a rod shape. Although it is part of the normal flora in the mouth, skin, and intestines, if aspirated, it can cause significant damage to the alveoli in human and animal lungs, leading to the production of bloody, brownish, or yellowish jelly-like sputum.
