Target Information
Troponin I (Tn-I) is a contractile protein found in the troponin complex on the thin filaments of striated muscle. Troponin I is part of the troponin complex, which also includes troponin T and troponin C. It binds to actin in thin myofilaments, helping to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place. During muscle contraction, troponin I prevents myosin from binding to actin in the relaxed state. Its role is to inhibit calcium-induced myosin ATPase activity.
