Target Information
Swine SDMA is a metabolic byproduct of protein methylation used as a highly sensitive biomarker for porcine renal health. Produced at a constant rate by all nucleated cells, it is filtered almost exclusively by the kidneys. In swine production and research, SDMA provides a more accurate assessment of the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) than traditional creatinine, as it is not influenced by the rapid muscle growth or high-protein diets typical in commercial hog farming, enabling early detection of subclinical kidney injury.
