Target Information
Radical S-adenosyl Methionine Domain-containing Protein 2 (RSAD2), encoded by the RSAD2 gene in pigs, is a multifunctional protein involved in viral processes. As an interferon-stimulated gene, RSAD2 plays a crucial role in the cellular antiviral response and innate immune signaling. Previously known as Viperin, this protein exhibits antiviral activity against a spectrum of DNA and RNA viruses. Intriguingly, viperin can be induced via both IFN-dependent and IFN-independent pathways, and certain viruses exploit it to enhance their infectivity.
