Target Information
Pleiotrophin is a secreted protein that plays a multifaceted role in the central nervous system (CNS). Its functions include regulating cell proliferation, growth, and differentiation. Pleiotrophin is encoded by the PTN gene in pigs. It is a heparin-binding growth factor produced mainly by glia cells. It binds HS chains of syndecan-3 and also interacts with the core protein and CS chains of phosphacan.
