Target Information
5'-AMP-Activated Protein Kinase Catalytic Subunit Alpha-2 is encoded by the PRKAA2 gene in pigs. PRKAA2 is an AMPK family member. AMPK is an energy sensor protein kinase that plays a key role in regulating cellular energy metabolism. In response to reduced intracellular ATP levels, AMPK activates energy-producing pathways and inhibits energy-consuming processes. PRKAA2 is primarily expressed and distributed in the heart, skeletal muscle, liver and neuronal cells of animals.
