Target Information

Pyridoxal Kinase is encoded by the PDXK gene in pigs. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of pyridoxal, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxine in the presence of ATP and Zn2+. This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases, specifically those that transfer phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferases) with an alcohol group as acceptor. The systematic name of this class of enzymes is ATP:pyridoxal 5'-phosphotransferase. This enzyme participates in vitamin B6 metabolism.
