Specifications
Target Information
Protegrin-1 is encoded by the NPG1 gene in pigs. Protegrin-1 induces membrane disruption by forming pores/channels that lead to cell death. Protegrin-1's unique structure and potent antimicrobial properties make it a valuable player in host defense against pathogens. Porcine protegrin-1 is a small cationic antimicrobial peptide (AMP) containing a β-hairpin structure stabilized by disulfide bonds. It is a broad-spectrum AMP with potent antimicrobial activity.
