Target Information

NAD(P)HX Epimerase, also known as NAXE, is an enzyme involved in metabolite repair. NAXE catalyzes the conversion of R-NAD(P)HX to S-NAD(P)HX. These compounds are toxic cellular metabolites. This pathway is essential for protecting cells from reactive oxygen species. Apolipoprotein A-I-Binding Protein is encoded by the NAXE gene in pigs. It is known to help repair NAD(P)H hydrates (NAD(P)HX), which are damage products existing as R and S epimers.

Target/Biomarker Porcine NAXE
Target Synonym NAD(P)H-hydrate epimerase; 5.1.99.6; Apolipoprotein A-I-binding protein; AI-BP; NAD(P)HX epimerase; APOA1BP; AIBP
