Myc proto-oncogene protein, also known as c-Myc, is a nuclear phosphoprotein that plays essential roles in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. Myc Proto-Oncogene Protein is encoded by the MYC gene in pigs. It is a nuclear phosphoprotein and a transcription factor composed of the typical basic/helix-loop-helix/leucine zipper domains. Porcine c-myc has been mapped to chromosome 4p13 by screening a porcine-rodent hybrid cell panel.
