Target Information

Malate Dehydrogenase, Cytoplasmic is encoded by the MDH1 gene in pigs. It is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism. MDH catalyzes the reversible oxidation of malate to oxaloacetate using the reduction of NAD+ to NADH. It plays an important role in the Krebs cycle for energy metabolism. It has been identified as a potential candidate gene for fat volume selection in pigs.
