Target Information

Insulin-Like 3 is encoded by the INSL3 gene in pigs. It is primarily produced in gonadal tissues in both males and females. INSL3 plays a role in meiotic progression in follicle-enclosed oocytes by reducing intra-oocyte cAMP concentration through activation of the leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 8 (LGR8). The gene is an important candidate gene for congenital disorders of the reproductive tract in pigs.
