Target Information
HMG-CoA reductase (official symbol HMGCR) is the rate-controlling enzyme in the mevalonate pathway, which is responsible for producing cholesterol and other isoprenoids. 3-Hydroxy-3-Methylglutaryl-Coenzyme A Reductase is encoded by the HMGCR gene in pigs. HMGCR is located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. It is a key enzyme in the pathway leading to cholesterol production. HMGCR is negatively associated with PCV2 infection in vitro and in vivo.
