Target Information

Orexin Receptor Type 1 is encoded by the HCRTR1 gene in pigs. It is a member of the orexin receptors, which play a critical regulatory role in the central control of food intake, maintenance of sleep states, energy metabolism, and neuroendocrine homeostasis. OX1R is a G-protein coupled receptor heavily expressed in projections from the lateral hypothalamus. OX1R selectively binds the orexin-A neuropeptide. It is involved in the regulation of feeding behavior.
