Target Information
Glycogen Phosphorylase L is encoded by the PYGL gene in pigs. The enzyme glycogen phosphorylase (PYGM or PYGL) (EC 2.4.1.1) is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate, which serves as the primary source of glucose for cells during periods of fasting. It exists in three isoforms: muscle (PYGM), liver (PYGL), and brain (PYGB).
