Target Information

Gamma-glutamyltransferase 1 (GGT1), also known as CD224, is encoded by the GGT1 gene in pigs. GGT1 catalyzes the transfer of the glutamyl moiety from glutathione (an important antioxidant) to various amino acids and dipeptide acceptors. It is one of the membrane-associated enzymes in mammalian cells that can lead to altered glucose metabolism and abnormal lipid profile, which are major clinical phenotypes of PCOS.
