Target Information

Proto-Oncogene C-Fos, also known as c-Fos, is a protein with significant implications in cellular processes and cancer research. c-Fos is a nuclear phosphoprotein that forms a tight but non-covalently linked complex with the JUN/AP-1 transcription factor. Proto-oncogene C-Fos is encoded by the FOS gene in pigs. Variability in the FOS gene has been suggested to underlie phenotypic variation in skeletal muscle fiber and metabolism traits in pigs.
