Target Information
Fibrinogen Alpha Chain is encoded by the FGA gene in pigs. Fibrinogen is essential for blood clotting. When an injury occurs, fibrinogen is converted into fibrin by the enzyme thrombin. Fibrin forms a mesh-like structure that stabilizes blood clots, preventing excessive bleeding. The alpha chain of fibrinogen plays a key role in this process. Increased serum fibrinogen level is associated with obesity. Research has shown that the inhibition of myostatin can affect fibrinogen levels and the fibrin clot structure.
