Target Information
Factor VIII (FVIII), also known as anti-hemophilic factor (AHF), is an essential blood-clotting protein. Factor VIII participates in blood coagulation. It acts as a cofactor for factor IXa, which, in the presence of Ca2+ and phospholipids, forms a complex that converts factor X to the activated form Xa. Coagulation Factor VIII is encoded by the F8 gene in pigs. It is a large (about 300 kDa) glycoprotein that functions as an integral component of the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation.
