Target Information

Prothrombin, also known as factor II, is a plasma protein produced by the liver. It plays a crucial role in the blood clotting process. Various clotting factors, including prothrombin, work together to form a blood clot. Prothrombin is converted into thrombin, which then transforms fibrinogen into fibrin, leading to clot formation. In a porcine model, enhanced thrombin generation without activators and the phosphatidyl serine-inducing capacity of septic plasma are signs of hemostatic activation during fulminant sepsis.
