Target Information

Dual Oxidase 2 is encoded by the DUOX2 gene in pigs. DUOX2 is the main ROS-producing enzyme in the intestine. It is regulated by cues from the commensal microbiota and functions in pathogen defense. Dual oxidase 2 flavoprotein is highly expressed in the thyroid gland where it plays a critical role in thyroid hormone synthesis by providing H2O2 to thyroperoxidase. Disruptions in DUOX2 function may impact metabolic health and contribute to diseases.
