Specifications
Target Information
Aromatic-L-Amino-Acid Decarboxylase is encoded by the DDC gene in pigs. It uses pyridoxal phosphate (PLP), the active form of vitamin B6, as a cofactor. The enzyme undergoes a structural transformation upon cofactor binding, transitioning from an open to a closed conformation. It can catalyze the conversion of aromatic L-amino acids to aromatic monoamines, which play a variety of physiological and biosynthetic roles in living organisms.
