Target Information

Alpha-crystallin A Chain is encoded by the CRYAA gene in pigs. Alpha-crystallin (alphaA and alphaB) is a major lens protein that belongs to the small heat-shock family of proteins. It binds to various cytoskeletal proteins, including actin, vimentin, and desmin. CRYAA plays a critical role in maintaining lens clarity and preventing protein aggregation. In its oxidized form (when the intramolecular disulfide bond is absent), CRYAA acts as a chaperone.
