Target Information
Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 3 is encoded by the COX3 gene in pigs. COX3 is one of the three mitochondrial DNA-encoded subunits of respiratory complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase). It is considered to stabilize the complex of COX1 and COX2. COX3 is a transmembrane subunit of cytochrome c oxidase, which is part of the respiratory chain. It plays a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation, the process that generates adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the mitochondria.
