Target Information

Cyclin D2 is part of the cyclin family, which controls cell cycle progression. It specifically regulates the G1/S transition, a critical step where cells move from the G1 phase (cell growth) to the S phase (DNA replication) in preparation for cell division. G1/S-Specific Cyclin-D2 is encoded by the CCND2 gene in pigs. It was found to be associated with adipose tissue development and differentiation. The CCND2 gene has been identified as a possible candidate for backfat conformation in Landrace.
