Target Information

Arginase-1 is encoded by the ARG1 gene in pigs. Arginase-1 is found in various tissues, including the liver, where it regulates urea production. It is also expressed in other cells, such as macrophages, where it influences immune responses. It is the final enzyme in the urea cycle, which is essential for ammonia detoxification in the liver. Research has shown that ARG1 has a very important effect on African Swine Fever Virus replication.
