PACAP interacts with Gs/Gq-coupled receptors. Its actions within the hypothalamus, limbic system, and mnemonic systems. Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase-activating Polypeptide is encoded by the ADCYAP1 gene in pigs. As a member of the vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)/secretin/glucagon family, it is known to be a powerful stimulator of adenylate cyclase.
