Pentatrichomonas hominis is a zoonotic pathogen, that causes diarrhea in both animals and humans. Infected dogs, as companion animals, can transmit P. hominis to humans. This protozoan primarily colonizes the colon and cecum in humans and other vertebrates and is found worldwide.
