Target Information

Cortisol is a steroid hormone, in the glucocorticoid class of hormones and a stress hormone. Cortisol is a crucial player in maintaining balance, but excessive or insufficient levels can impact the health. Cortisol receptors are present in most cells throughout the body. They receive and use cortisol differently based on the body's needs. Research has shown that the ovine placenta has the ability to synthesize 11-deoxycortisol and cortisol in vitro and normally does so in vivo.
