Target Information

Orientia tsutsugamushi is a bacterium transmitted by mites, belonging to the Rickettsiaceae family, and is known to cause scrub typhus in humans. It exists as a natural and obligate intracellular parasite within mites of the Trombiculidae family. In nature, small mammals can act as reservoirs and transmit Orientia tsutsugamushi by harboring infected mites.
