Target Information

Actin-binding protein WASF2 functions as a downstream effector in conveying signals from tyrosine kinase receptors and small GTPases to the actin cytoskeleton, promoting actin filament formation. It is part of the WAVE complex, which regulates lamellipodia formation by reorganizing actin filaments through interaction with the Arp2/3 complex. During mouse embryonic development, WASF2 is crucial for cell migration and morphogenesis. Research indicates that mouse embryos lacking WASF2 do not survive past embryonic day 12.5, exhibiting growth retardation and specific morphological defects.
